"MURDER IS A GAME"
A new Comedy Mystery
by
Fred Carmichael
As a change of pace for Th' YARC early in 2009, the Arts Centre will produce the new comedy mystery, MURDER IS A GAME, by Fred Carmichael, the British author of more than four dozen fast-paced suspense dramas for the end of February and the beginning of March in the New Year.
This fresh and captivating mystery takes place on the abandoned set for a movie by the same name, MURDER IS A GAME. How appropriate. The acclaimed husband-and-wife mystery writer team
Toby and Sloan Bigelow have reached an impasse with their writing. To get them stimulated once more, their publisher has arranged a surprise weekend.Unexpectedly the "surprise" has broader implications and unanticipated results.
There are eight members in the cast for MURDER IS A GAME, five women of various ages, backgrounds, and experiences and three men, ditto.
Auditions for this delightful mystery romp in the melodramatic style worthy of theincomparable Dame Agatha Christie herself will be held at Th' YARC as follows:
Female characters - Sunday, November 16th, from 2 to 4 p.m.;
Male characters - Sunday, November 16th, from 6:30 to 8 p.m..
Anyone interested in taking part either in the cast or on the crew for thisproduction is encouraged to be in touch with Liza at Th' YARC either byphone (902-742-8150) or by dropping in to register.
Director James Colbeck is always keen to welcome new talent into the ranks of Th' YARC "family" of participating artists.
No previous experience is required.
For any further information about this play or any production crew opportunities with the "team", you are encouraged to call
James directly at (902-742-8055).
SECOND ANNUAL DINNER-AND-AUCTION FUNDRAISER
Thursday November 20th
Encouraged by the success their partnership enjoyed last November, Rudder's Seafood Restaurant and Brew Pub and the
Yarmouth Arts Regional Council in Yarmouth will once again host a Dinner-and-Auction fundraiser on
Thursday, November 20th, at Rudder's on Water Street in this historic seaport.
The focus of this event is to help raise funds to construct a new multi-disciplinary multi-purpose arts complex
to replace the original Yarmouth arts centre, known locally as Th' YARC. Situated on Parade Street,
this facility has served the Tri-County region of southwest Nova Scotia for close to thirty years through both
professional and amateur staged performances, visual arts and craft exhibits, workshops, conferences,
and a program of scholarships for deserving youth training for professional careers in the arts.
All proceeds from this special November Dinner-and-Auction event will go towards the capital fund for the
new arts centre the design of which will more effectively further the Arts Council's mission, "The Enrichment of All through the Arts".
During the Dinner-and-Auction on November 20th, guests will enjoy live entertainment as well
as take part in a lively auction of a broad assortment of attractive items generously donated
in support of this fundraising initiative. A Silent Auction will also be featured..
This year two raffles will take place. Fabric artist Zorina Curnen is providing a quilted hanging and
blacksmith Joe Bengivenni is creating a weathervane on which tickets will be sold through Rudder's and
Th' YARC prior to and during the event for the opportunity to win these items the night of the Dinner-and-Auction.
Ticket to the event are $50.00 each and are available at both Rudder's and Th' YARC.
A tax receipt for $30.00 will be provided on each ticket purchased.
Further information may be obtained by calling Laura at 742-7050 or Liza at 742-8150.
